Sonoma Valley Residents Have Donated Over $300,000 in this Election Cycle

Sonoma Valley residents have dug into their pocketbooks this election cycle, donating over $300,000 to Congressional and national campaigns, according to a new campaign finance database put together by Huffington Post.
In Sonoma proper $152,431 was donated in the current election cycle, with 66% of those donations leaning Democratic. But, Republican supporters made larger donations: Just $57,000 of the money pool went to Democratic candidates, though the largest overall donation – a $32,500 gift from Michael Klein – went to D-Nancy Pelosi.
Boyes Hot Springs residents, however, pledged just $247 to campaigns, in 27 small-scale donations. But Glen Ellen pulled out the big bucks; residents pledged $167,883, with 97% of the donations going to Democrats.
The highest individual contribution in Glen Ellen, not surprisingly, comes from Pixar's John Lasseter, who pledged $35,800 gift to the Obama Victory Fund 2012. (His wife, Nancy Lasseter, also gave $35,800 to Obama's campaign.)

Funny how the internet changes everything. You used to be able to donate to political parties and it was fairly private. Now you can look up and learn alot about what your friends and neighbors are doing.

So true. When I make a political donation, I never think that someone can google my name and find out to whom I gave and how much. The internet has changed that.

I found it interesting to see the break down of the numbrs of democratic/republican donations and then break down of the dollar amounts. And I agree--I doubt that anyone thinks that their donation will be public record when they make it.
